The man exposed a
crime. Dare the dishonest red
state charge him this time?

Draped in golden veils,
Puget Sound dons her sequined
gown anew tonight.

Rusty dawn, almost
imperceptible, dusts the
city's silhouette.

Creeping fog devours
the Sound, licks the hills, consumes
the trembling stars.

Threadbare blue, batting
peeking through sun-worn seams; Sound,
island, mountain, sky

Cthulhu's rosy
children; spiny octopi
reaching from the branch.
Cicada
Neon screams resound,
echoing down the humid
alleys of red pine.
Sodium Vapor
Electric buzz cuts
the quiet; orange light chews
through the thick blue fog.
Storm
White dragons dance on
the swirling purple clouds; their
singing shakes the ground.
Heat Lightning
Sudden fire burns the
southern sky; my ear strains to
hear its hidden roar.

Between the clouded
mountains and the gray veil of
rain, blue dawn dares peer.

High fog condenses;
morning showers reign; sunrise
sweeps the blue sky clean.
Raccoons
Signs of a city
still wild, black masked thieves of trash
scurry down my street.

Bereaved of summer,
the heaving clouds grieve the
coming equinox.
Bottle Flies
Scavengers gathered
and woven like bright green glass
beads swarm and scatter.
Snowberry
Frosted globe hanging
on a rust-worn wire; will it
light the woods tonight?

A cutting moon slowly sweeps
its waning blade across the darkening
sky, harvesting the invisible
stalks that bind the heavenly fruit
to its deep, earthy root, a sickle
to sever the reigns that tame the sweaty
sun, freeing it from its long and
heavy summer labor.

I like the Chinese
calendar. Its seasonal
sense seems more astute.
Cemetary
Is it the broad leaves
of the wax myrtle that kill
the cool morning breeze?

Can you taste it in
the wind -- the distant hint of
freshly fallen rain?
